The Mindfulness Center at Brown University is a leading institution worldwide for research and teaching in the public health science of mindfulness.

We are at a time in history when mindfulness research is rapidly expanding, and mindfulness has become a highly accessed form of support for whole health in many countries, including the United States. There is great need for methodologically rigorous research to help determine whether reported impacts of mindfulness on health are fad or fact. The Mindfulness Center at Brown University leads initiatives in this area. Our researchers include experts from medicine, public health, and humanities to examine mindfulness from all angles. 

Our center stands out for its renowned faculty, methodological rigor and collaborative ethos, encompassing breadth, depth and dedication to both cutting-edge research and transformative education. Join us in shaping the future of mindfulness practice and understanding.

Mindfulness Research

The Mindfulness Center has strategically fostered key areas of research and innovation across faculty and is considered a leader in Health Equity, Mental Health, Mobile Health, Cardiometabolic Health, Implementation Science, and Adverse Events and Trauma Sensitivity.

Mindfulness Teacher Training Programs

Several mindfulness professional development programs are offered through the School of Professional Studies. Training includes MBSR (Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction) and MBCT (Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy) teacher training certificate pathways, mindfulness classes for individuals, and mindfulness training through affiliates and strategic partnerships. Training happens on-site, live on-line, and in person.
