Our center is home to a cohort of faculty that have primary appointments in Brown’s School of Public Health, Warren Alpert Medical School, as well as across the University. It has developed platforms for discussions, brainstorming, and grant and manuscript feedback, so that grants and papers can be peer-reviewed in-house first, maximizing the likelihood of external success.
Research
It really is in your head— but how does it work?
The Mindfulness Center at Brown is working to explain why mindfulness makes us healthier.
The Mindfulness Center has strategically fostered key areas of research and innovation across faculty and is considered a national leader in Health Equity, Mental Health, Mobile Health, Cardiometabolic Health, Implementation Science, Adverse Events and Trauma Sensitivity. Further research priorities include addressing emerging areas such as artificial intelligence, earth-based mindfulness, planetary health and health insurance coverage for mindfulness interventions. Our team is also building interdisciplinary interfaces in religious studies, computer science, brain science, theater and performing arts, athletics, anthropology, entrepreneurship and professional studies.
